A bold, fresh approach is needed to tackle the shortcomings of a system under so much strain that it is damaging the sector and wider economy
The announcement at the end of last year of a fresh inquiry into reforms to the UK’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) by MPs on the parliamentary levelling up, housing and communities committee is certainly welcome news.
The planning system has been feeling the strain for some time. It has come under a prolonged and intense period of scrutiny for several reasons, the most obvious and frustrating being the sheer amount of time it takes to go through the process.
